Description |
wooden box used to ship six pounds of cream of tartar to L. S. Patterson. Cream of Tartar was made by or distributed by Stickney & Poor, Boston. William Stickney, a Boston grocer, set out in 1815, distributing mustard. According to a website - copy of article in the Patterson Chair Co. folder - "in the 1820's the business consissted chiefly of Mustand and Pepper-Sauce. From this the firm branched out to grinding spices and Cream of Tartar...." Patterson probably sold the cream of tartar in the Patterson Co. general store. |
