Description |
Norwich Pen Pals - group photo. From Deb Van Arman's notes: Group formed during WW II to send letter to over 100 Norwich residents who served overseas. "After the War, the group continued to mail special cards to Norwich residents who were ill, celebrating important events in their lives, or expressing sympathy to those families who had lost loved ones. The club was all female. At the beginning of the calendar year, each Pen Pal member drew a name of another member from a hat and that person became her secret pen pal. At the year's end the secret pals were revealed. At each meeting, there were games played, refreshments served, and much conversation...The Club lasted until the last charter member, Jessie Kendall, died in 1987." |
