Description |
photos of tame blind deer befriended by Leroy W. Aldrich, Sr. .According to the donor: "Uncle Leroy W.Aldrich was a Game Warden and he found a blind deer in the woods so he brought it home and built a pen for it at his house on Hopson Rd. North. He wold put a rope halter on it and walk it around the village and take it to homes that had children. He would rap on the house windows and invite the children to come out and pat or feed the deer carrots, sugar cubes or apples he had in his pockets. A few hours later he would take the deer home. It lived for 8 years before it turned on him. He let the deer go out into the woods the day before the season opened." In the largest photo Leroy is sitting on the steps of the Aldrich House on Beaver Meadow Rd. |
