Description |
5 different-sized photos of the Hutchinson-Taylor House, which became the home of the Norwich Historical Society in 1970. According to a note in the NHS Subject Files, the house was moved from "lower Mechanic (now known as the north end of Hopson Road). It was moved to this [Church St.] location for use as housing for Norwich University students. As Jon S. Gordon (owner of this house in the early 1800's) was in charge of student housing, some credence can be given to the story. Jon Gordon sold this house to Olive W. Hutchinson in 1850 and it remained in the Hutchinson famiy until the death of Edith Mildred Hutchinson in 1960. Bernhardt and Blanche Haskell Taylor purchased the house at that time and lived in it until their deaths" c. 1969. It was the home of the NHS from 1970-2003. |
