The Methodist Episcopal Church in Union Village, now the United Methodist Church, was gathered in the Union Village Schoolhouse, January 14, 1836. At that time they discussed "the propriety of erecting a house for the worship of God." Soon thereafter, a constitution was drafted and plans were made to build the church of local brick. Pews were sold to raise money. According to the history in the August 15-16, 1936, centennial celebration pamphlet, the church building is owned by the Pew Owners Association. The bell was installed in 1879. |
